Q1: How long will it take me to complete the application?


It will take about 10 to 20 minutes for a first time user to complete an application.

Q2: What types of vehicle are eligible?


Any class of vehicles except the following:
  1. Private cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles with GVW not exceeding 1.9 tonnes (Vehicles permitted to be used on Lantau Island only are also eligible).
  2. Buses due for two-stage COF examination (please approach vehicle examination centre for details).

Q3: What kind of the vehicle examination can be booked through this system?


Only annual examination can be booked through this system. For other examinations (including re-check examinations), please approach the respective vehicle examination centre for booking.

Q4: When should I apply my vehicle for annual examination?


  1. Four months but less two calendar days before the expiry date of the vehicle licence; and
  2. Not more than two years after the expiry date of the vehicle licence.

Q5: How much is my transaction limit for electronic payment by credit card?


Payment by credit card may not exceed HK$2,000.

Q6: How can I get the receipt after paying the electronic payment?


Print the Appointment Letter (Acknowledgement) for reference.

Q7: Do I need to bring the Appointment Letter (Acknowledgement) to the examination centre on the examination day?


You should bring the Appointment Letter (Acknowledgement) for reference and present it to the vehicle inspection staff at the time of inspection. For bookings placed at vehicle examination centres, you are required to produce the original appointment letter issued by Vehicle Examination Centre.

Q11: Are there notices about vehicle examination?


Before the Examination
  1. Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy in all respects. If it fails the examination in any one requirement, it will have to be re-submitted for examination.
  2. The vehicle should be thoroughly cleaned to enable all parts included in the examination to be easily seen.
  3. Ensure that the chassis number stamped on the vehicle is legible.
On the day of Examination
  1. Produce the vehicle registration document and the appointment letter (acknowledgement) to the vehicle inspection staff of the examination centre at the time of the vehicle examination.
  2. Provide the vehicle with sufficient fuel and oil to use through the examination.
  3. Make sure the driver leaves in good time to arrive the vehicle examination centre by the appointed time. The examination centre may not accept any vehicle for examination on either early or late arrival beyond 15 minutes of the appointment time.
  4. If a vehicle (van) is fitted with a load sensing valve or a trailer/vehicle is fitted with a body (e.g. tanker, tipper, concrete mixer, pantechnicon, demountable) rendering our load simulator not applicable, such vehicle is required to be presented laden for the brake test.
  5. In the event of a tropical cyclone signal no. 8 or above/black rainstorm warning being hoisted that results in the cancellation of any scheduled vehicle examination, vehicle owners or their representatives are requested to bring along the original appointment letter to the Centre or through this on-line system for booking a no-fee re-scheduled appointment within 5 working days after the original examination date.
Refund of Examination Fee
  1. To obtain a refund of the vehicle examination fee in respect of cancelled vehicle examination appointment, a written application must be made to the officer in charge of the examination centre at least 14 days before the date of the original appointment.
  2. No examination fee will be refunded if the vehicle is refused examination due to late arrival, note (6).
Complaint/Appeal
  1. If you have any complaint/appeal regarding the examination of your vehicle, please contact the officer in charge of the examination centre immediately. No complaint about a vehicle examination can be entertained after your vehicle leaves the vehicle examination centre.

Q12: Why is the chassis number shown on the screen different from the one in my vehicle registration document?


This may be due to the change in vehicle registration number and the relative particulars will be updated to the system on the next working day.

Q13: What should I do if I find the vehicle chassis number shown on the screen is different from the one in my vehicle registration document?


You should stop the process and contact our vehicle examination centre.

Q14: How to enter 2-lines PVRM?


Please enter your 2-lines PVRM into one line; for example, if your 2-lines PVRM is "MY" "LOVE", you could enter "MYLOVE" or "MY LOVE" to the application.

Q15: Why am I encountering the message: "Invalid access. Please access this function through GovHK"?


To increase system stability, the system has been upgraded; you are now required to enter this application through GovHK.
